Hackodisha is brought to you by Webwiz on the occasion of the Diamond Jubilee celebration of NIT Rourkela. It is a community based virtual hackathon that is not limited only to Odisha but is meant for the students and coding enthusiasts all around the country. Scheduled on 18-19th September, Hackodisha is a 36 hour event where participants can showcase their unique ideas and expand their boundaries with sparkles of creativity. Being Webwiz's flagship event, Hackodisha focuses on promoting innovation and bringing participants together irrespective of their skills. Along with the promise of goodies, certificates, and exciting prizes to the winners, it also guarantees guidance from experienced mentors and a lifetime worth of experience.

The revolution of industry brought a drastic change in people's living standard and culture. The increase in number of jobs from various sectors, increase in production activities helped people grow to an ever increasing level that it seems A.I. is going to take over our work force. This 21st century has given the people the needs to fulfill anything they can dream of. Starting from a small needle to huge machines. The obsession with productivity has run our lives. Collective work has always been a wise principle to improve our productivity in this modern era of machines.
Crypt-o-quest.
Cryptocurrency trading or crypto trading involves buying and selling cryptocurrencies to earn profit. We speculate mainly on the price movement of cryptocurrency. As of recently, this field is pretty hyped up, and people are driven towards it. When we talk about the competition, the RSTO game token comes into account. It is the driving force of the competitions. Top rankers will get the reward in terms of RSTO, while low rankers will face some loss. Thus it builds up a reward system where you play more to earn more.

Aliens are trying to communicate with us by sending signals. You have been given waveforms, and you have to decode what circuitry the aliens might be using. Your task is to replicate those waveforms as closely as possible by simulating your circuit before they attack us.
Exploring the Blockchain technology:
With the advent and rising popularity of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency, Blockchain is a new term heard more frequently than not. For the unversed, Blockchain is a specific type of database that chains data together in chronological order, which makes it impossible to change, hack, or cheat the system. To help finance enthusiasts understand this topic more thoroughly, Webwiz choreographed a workshop on Blockchain earlier this year, in February. We had with us, CEO and Co-founder of Collabrains and an excellent Blockchain speaker, Mr. Pranjal Bharadwaj, who addressed the concerns and questions of curious participants and boosted our knowledge on this seemingly complicated topic.
Quelling confusions, spreading clarity:
Freshers often find themselves exposed to various potential interests and choices to select from. Be it competitive programming, web development, or building projects - without proper guidance, it'd all seem perplexing for a newbie. Webwiz, in association with Prepbytes, attempted to give an insight into this very topic by hosting an online workshop on "When and How to Start Building Projects?". Mamta Kumari, the Co-founder of Prepbytes, former SDE of Amazon and Samsung, and an expert mentor, graced us with her invaluable guidance and helped students understand how to approach their interests systematically. The event was fruitful and witnessed student's curious questions and active participation.
Understanding the “Crypto” of Cryptocurrency:
With cryptocurrency gaining an explosive rise in its price and popularity, it has become one of the few growing industries in these pandemic clad years. As such, it becomes essential for the youngsters and finance geeks to understand its exchange methods, influence on the finance world, and its trade risks. Webwiz brought forth an informative webinar on cryptocurrency, featuring Blockchain and Cryptocurrency expert Rohit Kundliwal on the 21st of February. This successful webinar, hosted by Webwiz in association with the Finance Club of NITR, talked about the legalities, profits, and risks and left the participants with a strong understanding of the subject.
API- The Postman of Web Information:
Webwiz, in collaboration with Postman, had organized a super informative, hands-on session on API, called APIs 101, to help students and techno-worms learn API essentials. API or Application Programming Interface is a framework that encapsulates more complex and more used codes and gives a more straightforward syntax for its utilization, allowing faster communication for servers. This event, held towards the end of March, was significant for Webwiz as a club as it got to work together with Postman, which is currently the world's leading collaboration platform for API development.
Learning from The Best:
Getting into big tech companies like Microsoft can be a far-fetched ambition for many. While struggling to sharpen our skills and improve our knowledge, a speck of motivation from the achievers themselves can wonderfully spice up the monotonous preparation period. Vaibhav Kohad (CS- 2021) transformed this ambition into reality as he grabbed a PPO into Microsoft. In a live, interactive session titled, *The Secret Ingredients to get into Microsoft*, an all-smiles Kohad talked us through his remarkable journey from being a newbie to a coder of such caliber. Having hosted a lively session that undoubtedly inspired all those who attended, Webwiz left yet another mark in its trail of successful events.
Being an OP with DevOps:
DevOps is a set of practices that automates and integrates software development (Dev) and IT operations (Ops). Resources such as Kubernetes and Docker have been integral in any developer's day-to-day life lately. Webwiz brought to its members and audience a Workshop on Docker and Kubernetes tools to quell their doubts and help them get started with DevOps. This workshop featured the highly celebrated speaker and Software Architect at the Nile University of Egypt, Mr. Ahmed Misbah, who taught the basics of DevOps and left us with some terrific tips to get us started with it.
Hacktoberfest – 2020:
Hacktoberfest is an initiative to assist beginners in getting started with the open-source ecosystem. Hacktoberfest 2020 was organized by Webwiz. It was a massive success as it witnessed combined traffic of more than 10,000 participants for the five projects started by Webwiz members. With 50 event contributors, Hacktoberfest provided an opportunity to win goodies for participants all over the world. A meetup towards the end of the fest featured discussions on open source and ideas for new projects in the future.
Off to a great start:
A first in anything is always unique and close to the heart, and HackEcho, our first event, is no different. Organized in collaboration with Cyborg, HackEcho was a 24-hour event that started with a workshop by Alon Grinshpoon, followed by a mini-challenge. Alon Grinshpoon, the Co-founder and CEO of EchoAR, is a high believer in Augmented and Virtual reality (AR/VR) and guided the participants to make awesome AR/VR projects. He also served as the judge for the mini-challenge, which required the participants to develop any small AR/VR-based project. The event had over 200 registrations from 30+ colleges in India and 10+ colleges abroad. It was a superb first-time experience for the club members and laid a firm foundation for many such events in the future.
